Investment visa also known as Entrepreneurship visa
Investment Visa of Hong Kong is a form of work permit that allows overseas inverters to relocate to Hong Kong either through investing in a local business or by establishing and running their own business in Hong Kong. To be granted an Investment Visa for Hong Kong, the investor should have a local business or the newly incorporated company with 2-3 year business plan that can contribute to the Hong Kong economy as well as two-year forecast of the profit/loss account statement.
Business such as, trading & logistics, tourism, financial services, professional services, transportation, innovative technology industries have a higher chance of success in being granted the investment visa. Some applicants may also apply Dependant Visas for their family members, mainly spouse and children.

- Investment Visa does not apply to Chinese nationals unless they hold overseas permanent residency or have been living overseas for 12 months immediately preceding the investment visa application.
Eligibility Criteria for Investment Visa
- You should have no criminal records or security problems.
- You must have a strong educational background. Normally, at least an undergraduate degree in the relevant field is preferred. Documentary evidence of good technical qualifications, relevant professional abilities, achievements, and experience may suffice in the absence of such a degree.
- You must demonstrate that your business will create jobs for the local workforce, that you will use the services of local service providers, suppliers, manufacturers, and so on, and that you will be able to make a significant contribution in the specific market that you are entering.
- Prior to applying for the entrepreneur visa, you must incorporate your Hong Kong company.
Investment Requirements
When applying an entrepreneur visa, there is no minimum investment amount required by the authorities. To determine whether your proposed investment is sufficient for the business you intend to launch, the authorities will carefully review your proposed business plan when processing your application. In this regard, you must make sure that your desired investment would cover your company’s startup and ongoing operating costs for at least the first three to six months.

Required Documents
Documents required from the applicant:
- Completed Application Form
- A copy of the personal particulars page of your passport. If you are currently staying in Hong Kong, a copy of your passport page containing the latest arrival stamp/extension of stay label in Hong Kong.
- A copy of your Hong Kong identity card (if any)
- A copy of proof of academic qualifications and relevant working experience
- A copy of the company’s Employment Contract or Appointment Letter, detailing information about your post, salary, other fringe benefits and employment period (if applicable)
- A thorough and detailed two-year business plan which should provide information about your company’s proposed business activities, amount of investment, creation of local job posts, setting up of an office/showroom/warehouse, etc. More details on the business plan are provided further below in this guide.
- A copy of the Business Registration Certificate obtained from the Inland Revenue Department and business registration particulars of the company you are going to invest in or have already invested in.
- A copy of proof of your overseas residence

- If the sponsor is a company
- Completed Application Form (Sponsor)
- A copy of the company’s Business Registration Certificate
- If the sponsor is an individual
- Completed Application Form (Sponsor)
- A copy of the sponsor’s Hong Kong identity card
- A copy of the personal particulars page of the sponsor’s passport.
Note: All documents submitted must be in English or Chinese or translated into English or Chinese by a certified translation body. The Immigration authorities reserve the right to demand further documents from the applicant or sponsor as and when necessary.
