Canada plans to make the caregivers program permanent and has announced new pilot programs to benefit Canadian families and caregivers

The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, has announced a new and improved caregiver pilot programs as the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot come to an end later this month. As the country strives to make the caregiver pilot programs permanent, this will enable caregivers to travel to Canada.
Under the new pilot programs, home care workers will be able to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence (PR). Additionally, they will be permitted to work for organizations that provide temporary or part-time care to those who are recovering from an illness or injury or who are semi-independent. With the help of this new pathway, caregivers will find it easier to obtain suitable employment with reliable employer and to obtain permanent resident status as soon as they get to Canada.
Eligibility Criteria for New Pilot Programs
Those who fulfill the following criteria and are interested in working in Canada’s home care industry may apply through these new pilot programs:
- Achieve the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) minimum of level 4.
- Possess the same standing as a high school diploma in Canada.
- Possess recent and relevant work experience
- Receive a full-time home care job offer
