Extension of EB5 program
The Spending Bill passed in the United States on March 23rd included the extension of the current EB5 program to the end of September 2018.
This program lets foreign nationals obtain a green card for themselves and their families if they invest a minimum of USD $500,000 in a business and create at least 10 jobs for U.S citizens or permanent residents. About 90 percent of investors apply through regional centers, which are private-sector entities that pool investors’ money to develop commercial projects (and therefore do not require any management from the applicants). The minimum investment requirement is expected to increase at the end of this latest extension.
